Recipe: Crockpot Spiced Chicken

I know, I know. The first blog post in a while just happens to be about food. But it's good, I promise. This recipe has a little kick to it but it isn't very hot and it keeps the chicken pretty moist. You can use it on a turkey or whatever type meat you want, but we did it with a Cornish hen.

Ingredients list:
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne (red) pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 large chicken/hen/turkey

Combine all the spices into a mixing bowl and mix.
Loosely cut the onions  and place at the bottom of the crock pot. (You can also add tomato if you wish)

If your meat has any giblets, remove them. I added some of the spices to the inside and whatever was left after coating the hen was also put in. Also coat the meat with the seasoning.

Stick the chicken/hen/turkey on top of the onions.

Cook for 4 - 5 hours on HIGH, low for an hour. And bam! You're done.
